A Life Remembered

Obituary

Linda Julia Steinfath, 78, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026.

Born on May 5, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Linda was the cherished and only child of Robert and Ruby Kerr. As a young girl, she experienced the unique adventure of traveling across the Atlantic aboard the Queen Elizabeth between the United States and England, creating memories that would stay with her throughout her life.

Linda was a woman of strength and determination. At the age of 21, she began the journey of raising her two children as a single mother, dedicating her life to their care and well-being. Through her resilience and unwavering love, she built a life centered on her family.

She retired from her career in Accounts Payable at Tech Campus in Grayslake, Illinois. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Linda was a lifelong advocate for animal rights and had a deep love and concern for the welfare of animals.

Linda found joy in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching Court TV, viewing camping videos, and spending time with her beloved cat, Bodhi, whose companionship brought her great comfort and happiness.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Gail Solie and husband Rick; her son, Scott; and her cherished grandchildren, Megan and Nick. She is also survived by her dear friends and confidantes, Mary Jo Biersteker, Peggy Cochran, and Mary Marescalco, friendships she treasured for more than 25 years.

Linda's kindness, perseverance, and love for both people and animals will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and compassion.

A memorial service will be held on November 6th from 11am to 1pm at Proko Funeral Home in Kenosha, WI

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Kenosha County, causes that were near and dear to her.

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
