Nancy L. Zirbel
Nancy L. Zirbel, 82, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Casa del Mare Assisted Living in Kenosha. Born in Kenosha on May 20, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Catherine (Applegate) Ells and was educated in local schools. On October 7, 1950, she married Warren C. Zirbel in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2014. Nancy worked as a cook for the Southern Wisconsin Center for many years and also in a bakery. She was a former member of the Paris Methodist Church and loved to cook, bake, crochet and bowl. She loved to root for the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs. She will also be remembered for opening up her home to anyone in need of a place to stay. Her most treasured moments were when she was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her three children, Don (Jude) Zirbel of Kenosha, Lester (Tammy) Zirbel of Bristol and Jody Barnett of Burlington; a daughter-in-law, Deanna Zirbel of Burlington; a sister, Margaret Taylor of Mauston, WI; nine grandchildren, Amy V., Albie, Amy B., Mat, Brent, Brandon, Katie, Sarah and Amanda; and 17 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. She was preceded in death by a son, Arnie Zirbel; a brother, Donald Ells; and two sisters, Virginia Penn and Dee Dee Williams. The family would like to thank Casa del Mare and Grace Hospice for all of the kind and compassionate care they gave Nancy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7th, at Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon.
