Alfredo “Al / Freddy” Espinosa, 71, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Born in San Marcos, TX, on April 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Jesus and Helaria (Martinez) Espinosa. He proudly served in the United States Army security agency for four years. In 1968 he moved to Kenosha and met the love of his life Elnora Arndt at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside; they were married in 1973. Al earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Carthage College. He retired from Racine Unified Schools in 2001, with 30 years of service as a Social Worker. In retirement he enjoyed travel, biking, spending time with family and friends, and founded the Kenosha Area Classic Volkswagen Club. Surviving are his wife, Ellie of Kenosha; his children, Stephanie (Vince) Orlando, Cindy Espinosa, Tony Espinosa and Jennifer (Pratip) Espinosa-Goswami; two sisters, Aurora Garcia and Theresa (Mario) Vargas; and also his grandchildren, Jade and Asha Goswami and Caleb and Chase Orlando. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank and Jesus; and a sister, Maria (Lupe) Schmidt. I worked with Al for many years at Racine Unified and will always remember him as a great friend and colleague. He always added so much to our gatherings after work. Gone too soon.

Very sorry to hear this as we have not only lost a VW fan, but more importantly another ASA brother has answered the final bugle. While Al served in Japan, we shared a common experience protecting the country during the Cold War. "In God we trust, All others. we monitor"! I'm proud to have known him.
