Carl Williston

1933 ∼ 2016

Carl Williston, 83, beloved husband of Sabina Fairbrother for 25 years, on April 22, 2016, slipped away so softly and silently that those of us in his room at Clairidge House didn’t even notice he had left. Carl was born in Ovid, MI, on January 18, 1933, to Carl and Agnes (Coates) Williston. He attended St. Johns High School in St. Johns, MI, where he was a member of the 1950 football team later inducted into the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame. He joined the Navy where he continued to play football and served on the USS K-1 submarine. He attended Michigan Technological University. He was a member of the IBEW, working on such diverse projects as The World Trade Center and The Kemper Center restoration in Kenosha, where he moved in 1997. In addition to Sabina, he is survived by his second wife, Shaila Williston, MD of Orange Park, FL; ten children, Christopher (Kerry) Williston of LaVernia, TX, Virginia (Cbo) Dean of Baker, LA, Robert (Kathy) Williston of Clinton, LA, Michael Joe (Denise) Williston of Baker, LA, Dominic Williston of Baker, LA, Shirley (Don) Merrero of Clinton, LA, Thomas (Lynne) Williston of Baton Rouge, LA, Charles (Karen) Williston of Oxford, PA, Gerilynn (Michael) Norris of Newark, DE, and Satasha Williston of Jacksonville, FL; 28 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Irene (Ritter) Williston.
