Harold Howard Hinds

Harold Hinds, 86, of Racine, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born on January 24, 1930, in Kenosha, the son of the late Lawrence and Lillian (Barnes) Hinds. He was a graduate of Kenosha High School. Harold served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 and later transferred to the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1956. On January 30, 1955, he married Doris Margaret Peterson in Kenosha; she preceded him in death in 1976. Harold was an award winning salesman and worked for numerous companies such as Singer, Sears, Midwest Specialties and later at Gander Mountain until his retirement in 1998. Harold loved nature and enjoyed hunting and fishing; he was also a member of the local archery club. Harold is survived by his three sons, Robert Hinds of Monroe, WI, Lawrence "Larry" Hinds of Kenosha and Harold Hinds of Seattle, WA; his daughter, Susan Hinds-DePorter of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Hinds of Madison, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Doris; two sisters, Donna Laabs and Doreen Cutlip; his brother, Edward Hinds; and his loving companion of 27 years, Joan Denman. Visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Saturday, April 23rd, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon.
