Louis K. Ricchio, 93, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at ManorCare Health Services. Born in Marano Principato, Provence of Cosenza, Italy, on November 11, 1922, he was the son of the late Achille “Kelly” and Annunziata “Nancy” (Sorrentino) Ricchio. He moved to Kenosha in 1937 and was educated in local schools. Louis served in the United States Army from January 30, 1943, until his honorable discharge on December 24, 1945. He was in battles at Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland and was awarded the Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars, four overseas service bars and the Good Conduct Medal. On November 3, 1945, he married Nelly Adriaenssens in Belgium. Louis was formerly employed with American Motors Corporation, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Holy Rosary Holy Name Society and the UAW Local 72 Retirees. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, golfing and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Nelly Ricchio of Kenosha; three sons, Ike (Judy) Ricchio of Kenosha, Gabe Ricchio of Trevor and Carl (Carmella) Ricchio of Kenosha; and ten grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Jenrette, Kelly (Cindy) Ricchio, Louis Ricchio, Billy (Jenny) Ricchio, John (Sara) Ricchio, Dina (Eric) Daniel, Joseph Ricchio, Tony Ricchio, Peter (Michelle) Ricchio and Felicia (Steven Blanco) Lucas; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren with twins on the way. I have many great memories of Louie. From going over to their house almost every day when I was a teenager to dancing the Tarrentella with him at weddings. He was like a father figure to me. He was a great man and will be missed.
