Frances A. Jaeschke, 96, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on June 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late James and Annie (Jordan) McCarvell. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was one year old. She grew up in Chicago and along with her sister formed a dance team known as the Jordan Sisters. On October 31, 1942, she married Ralph L. Jaeschke in Chicago. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1996. Frances moved to Kenosha in 1942 and was very active in the community. She was instrumental in starting the first school crossing guard program in the state of Wisconsin. Fran was part of the founding group for UW-Parkside, was a former member of both the School Board and the County Board, President of the Women’s Club of Kenosha and was active with the PTA, and the Kenosha Little Theater. In 1971, she graduated in the 2nd commencement of University of Wisconsin-Parkside with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Frances was also an artist, finding great joy in painting. Survivors include her son, James (Kathryn) Jaeschke of Pewaukee, WI; two granddaughters, Kathryn (Scott) Yanke of Pewaukee and Lt. Anne (Don) Newton of Virginia Beach, VA; two great-granddaughters, Zoe Yanke and Lily Newton; and a nephew, Marshall (Jennifer) Paulsen of Sturgeon Bay, WI. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Paulsen. Visitation will be held at the Proko Funeral Home on April 1st, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Green Ridge Cemetery.
