Sara and family,My heart is broken for all of you. Your dad was a kind, friendly man who genuinely cared for even the youngest acquaintances. As a mentor, he brought joy to the kids he met with each week, and we all grew to appreciate his familiar and pleasant manner. I've heard wonderful stories about him, and I am praying those memories bring you peace. Much love and blessings.

Cookie, Eric and Sara.No words can express our sorrow. Your whole family has meant so much to us over the years. From the many nights of practice, the weekend trips, the hours in gymnasiums and the fun experiences with all of the families of our teams, we have created vivid and endless memories.Rest assured that Beaver will be an angel on all of your shoulders throughout life, whispering those positive words he always did. Those words of infinite wisdom he brought to every experience he shared with his children and his wife and his friends. He was one of the great human beings we have had the privilege of knowing in our lives, and his legacy will be reflected in the actions of hundreds of children whom he influenced with positive teaching - not about dribbling and shooting, but about how to be a good person! God bless you all. You are eternally in our prayers.

My heart goes out to the Griffith family in the passing of Steve. Although I have not been in touch with "The Beaver" for a number of years, he will always be, in my book, one of the truly gifted athletes and kindest of young gentlemen I had the privilege of coaching at BHS. It was an honor to be a small part of his life. The entire Verwey family sends its condolences to the Griffiths. May God bless. Jerry and Sue
