Thomas J. Higgins

1959 ∼ 2016

Tom Higgins, 56, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at home after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Born in Beloit, WI, on December 12, 1959, he was the son of John and Catherine (Beaudry) Higgins. He moved to Kenosha as a child. He attended St. Mary and St. Therese schools and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1978. On February 14, 1981, he married the love of his life, Lori Rasmussen at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Together they raised two children, son Paul and daughter Erin. Tom was a licensed real estate appraiser, first working for his father and later as owner of Higgins Appraisal Company. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, working on computers and watching and coaching sports, especially basketball. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include his loving wife, Lori Higgins; two adored children Paul Higgins and Erin Higgins; his mother, Catherine Higgins; two brothers, John P. Higgins and Michael (Carol) Higgins; and a sister, Colleen Stancato. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Higgins. I met Tom when he coached St. Mary's White 8th graders when my son was on the team. Recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, Tom kept a special eye on him and warned him of the dangers of the disease. My sympathies to the family.
