Barbara J. Calchera, 67, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Brookside Care Center. She was born in Kenosha on March 22, 1948, to a very loving Italian family, the late Louis and Mary (Marano) Calchera. Barb was educated in the Kenosha School System and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High; following graduation she attended beauty school, where she received her certification as a hair stylist. She started her hair dressing career at Alzira’s Salon and was later employed by Brookside Care Center and J’s Salon. Barb was a member of the Mt. Carmel Choir, and the captain of the cream puff and cannoli booth at the annual church festival. She spent many happy times with her family and friends. She always put others before herself, and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. "If you wanted to hear the truth, Barb would tell it like it was." Surviving Barbara is her sister, Margaret (William) Tradewell of Kenosha; niece, Camille (Dale) Demott; nephew, Charles Tradewell; aunt, Gina (Domenick) Tirabassi; and special lifelong friend, Marilyn Deinhammer. She is further survived by many loving family and friends and Bella Mia, her loving companion and dog. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4th, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1919-54th Street, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Interment will be held at All Saints Cemetery in Pleasant Prairie. "The family would like to give a special thank you to our Parish Priest who spent many days with Barb at Brookside Care Center as she prepared to leave this life."Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Barbara’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

I feel so blessed to have had Barb as a friend. I have so many happy memories I shared with Barb that I will always keep close to my heart. She taught us all what is was to be a good friend. Barb did tell it like it was if you wanted to hear or not, she was so honest. It was a privilege to have Barb as my friend. Barb will be missed but never forgotten.
