Willis H. “Rev Bud” Burgin, 71, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2015, at his home with his wife at his side. Born in Clay Center, KS, on January 3, 1944, he was the son of the late Willis H. and Dorothy E. (Lake) Burgin, Sr. He resided in Appleton and Kaukauna before moving to Kenosha in 1965. He graduated from the UW-Parkside in 1975, Garrett Theological Seminary in 1984 and was ordained in 1985. He was a perpetual student until 2015. Bud served in the United States Air Force from June 20, 1961, until his honorable discharge on May 23, 1963. On June 21, 1964, he married Sharla Walker at the Church of the Pines in Minocqua, WI. Bud was a teacher, first in Twin Lakes and then as a substitute with the Kenosha Unified School System, and he was a pastor, with Wauwatosa United Methodist Church and then Belmont/Whig United Methodist Churches. He enjoyed religious study, playing chess and cribbage and building computers. Survivors include his wife, Sharla of Kenosha; his son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Monica Burgin of Plainfield, IL; and his granddaughter, Elli. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19th, at Proko Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
