Dawn E. Shoemaker, 82, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at her home. Born in Chicago on June 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Harriet Fay. Dawn was raised and educated in the schools of Chicago and moved to Kenosha in 1989 from the Chicago area. She was formerly employed as a telephone operator with Illinois Bell and later with Motorola until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, collecting anything related to Elvis Presley and watching old, classic, movies. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her three sons, Richard Shoemaker of Kenosha, Robert (Laura) Shoemaker of Pleasant Prairie, and David Shoemaker of Kenosha; her daughter, Robin Shoemaker of Kenosha; three grandchildren, Christine (Joe) Pirk, Ty Erickson and Caleb Ammon; two great-grandchildren, Brianna Zsamboki and Hailey Thompson; and a third great-grandchild on the way. She is further survived by her special friend, Jamie Porras; and her dog, Muffin. She was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene “Tootie” Bambrick. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22nd, at the Proko Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
