Gerald W. “Jerry” Heide, 69, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2015, at Hospice House. Born in Kenosha on May 7, 1946, he was the son of the late John L. and Marjorie (Arentz) Heide, Sr. A lifelong resident of Kenosha County, he graduated from Central High School. On December 8, 1965, he entered the United States Army and was honorably discharged on December 7, 1971. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal and the Aircraft Crewman Badge. On January 18, 1969, he married Cheryl Pohlman at the Pleasant Prairie United Methodist Church. Jerry was employed with Outboard Marine Corporation, retiring after 31 years. After retirement, he worked part-time at Roger and Marv’s Super Valu for a few years. He was a member of the Pleasant Prairie V.F.W. Post 7308. He loved collecting and restoring antique tractors and gardening, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Heide of Pleasant Prairie; three children, Jerry A. Heide, Keri (Anthony) Martin and John Heide, all of Kenosha; eight grandchildren Angela Martin, Gabrielle Martin, Anthony Martin II, Grace Heide, Logan Heide, Trevor Heide, Emma Heide and Adam Heide; and a brother, John J. (Marsha) Heide, Jr. of Deerbrook, WI. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20th, at Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials to V.F.W.
