Edna Rose Highland

1934 ∼ 2015

Edna R. Highland, 80, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Brookside Care Center. She was born in Genoa, IL, on December 30, 1934, the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Riebock) Anderson. Edna was educated in the schools of Genoa, IL, graduating from Genoa Kingston High School. On August 16, 1952, she married Raymond Highland in Genoa, IL; he preceded her in death on November 18, 2009. She served as the County Clerk for Kenosha for 25 years and also held many positions in government through the years. She served on the boards for Brookside Care Center, the Shalom Center, member and board member at First United Methodist Church, a member of the Ladies of the Moose and was very active in the Democratic Party. Surviving Edna are her three children, Thomas (Lynn) Highland of Sussex, WI, Connie (Kay) Highland of Fox Lake, IL, and Ronald (Martha) Highland of Algonquin, IL; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer (Pete), Erin and their mother Diane Barcellona, Kristen (Ryan), Jay (Jenna) and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Anthony, and Brooke. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Vernon and Charles Anderson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st, at the Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday, October 22nd, at First United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. I have know Edna as a very active person incommunity life including Town of Somers and KenoshaCounty. We had a great time while visiting Francethrough the Sister Cities program.To her family I would like to say: "May happymemories carry you through this sorrowful time."
