Roger A. Mertes, 77, of Pleasant Prairie, went to Heaven on Saturday, August 15, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 14, 1938, in Glen Ellyn, IL, he was the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Hritsco) Mertes. On February 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Jean Tate at the First United Methodist Church. He was a sheet metal worker for Krause & Robert Irsay Sheet Metal and a member of Local 73. The world has lost a great man; he is now dancing with Jesus. He put his faith in Jesus. Roger was very patriotic and extremely grateful to the men and women who gave their lives for his freedom. Surviving are his wife, Jean Mertes of Pleasant Prairie; two daughters, Pamela Mertes and Lori Ann (Douglas) Larsen, both of Kenosha; his granddaughters, Danielle (Nate) Daley and Kristina (David) Tisdale; his great-grandchildren, Lux Daley, Leland and Heart Tisdale; a sister, Miriam Hagstrom; a niece, Jill and her three children; and cousins, Johnny and Nancy Mergen and family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
