Margaret Nelson Merwin, 76, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. Born in Oconomowoc, WI, on August 16, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Melinda (Christopherson) Nelson. She was a resident of Kenosha since 1983. Margaret was formerly employed as a system service coordinator with Kenosha Youth Development Services. She was an avid golfer and belonged to a women’s golf league. Margaret was a great cook and especially loved making Thanksgiving dinners for her family. She had a great love for dogs and volunteered at the humane society, eventually adopting several dogs as her own. Survivors include her daughter, Denise (Dan) Wilcox; two grandsons, Eric Wilcox and Jeremy (Sarah) Wilcox; sisters, Carole (Lee) Bailey, Gladys (Ronald) Hug, Ruth Carpenter, Dorothy (Jerry) Weibelhaus, Helen Schaumberg; a brother, Walter (Charlotte) Nelson; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Nelson; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. She is also survived by her former husband and devoted friend, John Merwin. She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Otto; a brother, Arthur Nelson; and a sister, Irene Muras. Per Margaret’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
