Leona Plizga

Leona Maslanka Plizga, aged 90, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, died Monday, February 16, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Home and Rehabilitation Center, Kenosha, WI. Mrs. Plizga was born August 8, 1924, in Chicago IL, a daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Paprocki) Maslanka. She married Edward John Plizga in 1948. They resided subsequently in Chicago, Wildwood, IL, and Waukegan, IL. After Mr. Plizga’s retirement from Commonwealth Edison, they relocated to the Longleaf community in Southern Pines, NC. After Mr. Plizga’s death in 2007, Mrs. Plizga moved to Pleasant Prairie, WI, to be near family. Mrs. Plizga’s interests included travel, gardening, and doting on her grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Lorraine Kuta (late husband Hilary) of Charlotte Harbor, FL, and Dolores Meyer (husband Dean) of Port Charlotte, FL; two daughters, Carole A. Plizga, of Kenosha, WI, and Renee A. Nyquist (husband Tim) of Franksville, WI; two sons, John E. Plizga (wife Karen) of Rochester, MN, and Glenn J. Plizga (wife Nonie) of Pleasant Hill, CA; five grandchildren, Daniel Plizga, Edward "Ted" Plizga, Emily Nyquist, Nathan Nyquist and Noah Nyquist; and two great-grandchildren, Owen Plizga and Everett Plizga. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
