Persefoni “Elsa” Smith of Ann Arbor, MI, went home to God on December 4, 2014. Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, she came to the United States after marrying her beloved late husband William. She was preceded in death by her dearly loved son Demetris and a brother Elias Giannoulopoulos. Elsa was very active and close to the Greek Orthodox monasteries and church. She was an avid runner who was proud to have raced in the Detroit Free Press Marathon in her later years. Friends and family enjoyed her special way of bringing laughter to a situation. She will be dearly missed by many friends and family, but especially by her daughter and best friend, Christina (Joseph) Paliwoda of Pinckney, MI; two grandchildren, Joseph and Mikayla Paliwoda; and a sister, Chloe Pauli of Montreal, Canada. “We will miss you always and love you forever!” Visitation will be held on December 6, 2014 at St. John Chrysostomos Greek Orthodox Monastery, 4600-93rd Street, Pleasant Prairie, WI, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the monastery.
