Louise Wade, 78, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant, WI. Born in St. Claire County, MO, on January 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Tucker) Wightman. She was educated in the schools of Wyandotte, KS. On June 17, 1956, she married Ralph M. “Smokey” Wade in Kansas City, KS. In 1966 the couple moved to Kenosha from Marion, IA. He preceded her in death on February 22, 2013. Louise was employed as church secretary with First United Methodist Church for 16 years and after she received her Master’s Degree from UW-Milwaukee, she was employed as an elementary school counselor with the Kenosha Unified School district for 15 years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of and very active with the First United Methodist Church in Kenosha, belonged to the Red Hat Society and loved to garden. Surviving is her son, James (Teresa) Wade of Kenosha; two grandchildren, Jeremy and Jonathan, both of Kenosha; a brother, John (Arlene) Wightman of Leavenworth, KS; and a sister, Doris (Jack) Cain of San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Hemmingsen. Visitation will be held Friday, September 5th, at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6th, in First United Methodist Church’s sanctuary, 919-60th Street, Kenosha, Wisconsin, 53143, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for services. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. I have always respected the qualities of compassion and sincerity about Aunt Louise. Although a small, gentle outward frame of a beautiful lady, she had the inner strength of a giant.
