Giovanni (John) M. Salituro, 85, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie with his loving family at his side. Born in Italy on March 23, 1929, he was the son of the late Michele and Amilia (Veltri) Salituro. He was educated in the schools of Italy. In 1957 he married Annunziata (Nancy) DeFranco at Maria SS Della Conzolazione in Arcavacata, Italy. They came to Kenosha over 56 years ago to make their home. For almost 50 years he worked at G. LeBlanc Corp. as a Polisher and Supervisor, retiring in 1995. He was an avid gardener, known throughout Kenosha for his Italian tomatoes. He loved sharing his stories and experiences of “the old country” with his extended family and friends. John was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Salituro of Kenosha; his four children, Francesco (Vicky) Salituro of Boston, MA, Gino (Ellen) Salituro of New Jersey, Maria (Glenn) Nikula of Kenosha, WI, and John (Joann) Salituro of Union Grove, WI; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Julia Infusino, Concetta Iorio, Rosario Salituro, Francesco Salituro, Giuseppe Salituro and Assunda Cosentino and Grandson Joseph F. Salituro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16th at the Proko Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday August 16th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 1919-54th Street, at 12:00 noon. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
