Robert J. “Bob” Wilson, Jr., 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully Monday, April 7, 2014, at Brookside Care Center surrounded by his family. Born in Terre Haute, IN, on July 23, 1925, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Mary (Curdie) Wilson, Sr. At age 4 his family moved to Kenosha to live. Robert attended Roosevelt Elementary School, McKinley Jr. High School and was graduated from Kenosha High School in 1943. During World War II he served in the United States Navy from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He received the American Area Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon with one star, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. On January 11, 1947, he married Irmgard L. Ruebsamen at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2006. For over 38 years he was employed by American Motors/Chrysler Corp., retiring in 1983. Bob was an avid sports fan and loved following the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed playing sports, especially basketball and softball. He loved being outdoors and going camping with his family. At Brookside he was very active participating in the scheduled activities. He is survived by a son, Scott (Peggy Dietzler) Wilson of Kenosha; a daughter, Suzanne (Jeffrey) Mohr of Pleasant Prairie; a sister, Isabelle Bacon of Lake Bluff, IL; and two grandchildren, Eric Mohr and Emily Mohr. Bob’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and Brookside Care Center and Hospice Alliance for all the love and care they gave him. As per Bob’s wishes, funeral services were private.
