Cleo Marie Englund

1930 ∼ 2014

Cleo Marie Englund passed away peacefully at her home in Kenosha on February 24, 2014. She was 83 years old. Cleo was born on April 28, 1930, in Hartford, SD, the daughter of the late Charlotte and William Balk. She was raised in Hartford, and met the love of her life, the late Elove “Lovey” Englund, at a dance in a nearby town. They were married on August 10, 1948. They lived in South Dakota, in Bremerton, WA, and in Illinois before settling in Kenosha in 1957, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary among family and friends in 1998. Cleo worked for many years at the Barden’s Department Store and later the Leader Store in downtown Kenosha. She became a familiar face to customers who appreciated the pride she took in taking the time to help them find just the right article of clothing or accessory. After her retirement she remained good friends with many of her co-workers at Barden’s and enjoyed their frequent lunch dates together to share laughs and catch up on news about family and especially grandchildren. In her spare time Cleo enjoyed sewing clothes for her three daughters, entertaining family and friends with home-cooked meals at Sunday get-togethers, home decorating, taking family vacations and weekend getaways, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren. Cleo will be remembered for her keen sense of humor and zest for life, and for the warm welcome she extended to everyone who visited her home. Cleo is survived by her daughters Donnette Dolzall and her husband Gary of Newton, CT; Paulette Rossi of Caledonia, WI; and Janet Englund of Kenosha, as well as by six grandchildren: Paul, Christina and Thomas Dolzall; Allyson and Matthew Rossi; and Zachary Englund. Cleo appreciated the loving care provided by granddaughter Allyson in her final days. She was preceded in death by her brother Bill. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church from 11:00 a.m. until the Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Cleo’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
