Amelia (Millie) Vena, age 87, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Kenosha on November 11, 1926, daughter of the late Anthony and Rose (Qualeatti) Pizzichini. Amelia was educated in Kenosha and received her GED from Mary D Bradford High School. On November 24, 1945, she married John S. Vena at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish; he preceded her in death on December 13, 1998. Amelia and her husband John owned and operated Vena’s Pizzeria in downtown Kenosha for 10 years. She was also employed by Kenosha Theatre, The Frost Company during WWII, Full Fashion Mill, Tenuta’s Deli, and later worked and retired from U.W. Parkside in the Professional Food services department. Amelia was active in the Kenosha community as a member of the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, Italian American Ladies Auxiliary, Teamsters Local 42, and the Kenosha Car Club. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, traveling, and had an avid love of cooking for family, friends, and local fundraisers. Surviving Amelia are her three children, JoAnne (Robert Hodnik) Angelici of Milwaukee, Louis (Loretta) Vena of Kenosha, and Angela (Michael) Hillestad of Rochester, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Shimon, Celina (Andrew) Mandli, Jodie Vena, Nicholas (Stephanie) Giorno, and Lee (Kassie Poffenberger) Giorno; four great-granddaughters, and one sister, Frances Iorio of Kenosha. She is preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, and a brother Peter Pizzichini. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
