Calvin John Martin, Jr., 65, a resident of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2013, at St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus after a lengthy illness. Calvin was born August 6, 1948, in Beaver Dam, WI, to Calvin and Ida Marie (Ball) Martin, Sr. He came to Kenosha as a young child and was educated in local schools, graduating from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1966. Calvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. He was also a member of the David Leet Post 552 located in Somers, WI. On November 9, 1973, he married the former Linda Marie Lawler in Waukegan, IL. He was employed by American Motors/Chrysler Corp. from 1974 until his retirement in 2003. Calvin was an avid Packer fan and also enjoyed having the best manicured yard in the neighborhood. Every year he looked forward to deer hunting with family and friends, especially Mark and Larry Andersen. Calvin, Mark, and Larry were affectionately called “The Big 3” by all who knew them. Calvin was especially proud of his son Jacob Cal who was the light of his life. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters, Janet and Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Jacob; his nephew, Jeremy M. Lawler who he loved like a son; three brothers, James M. (Sandra) Martin, Sr., of Tipler, WI, Gregory (Arlene) Martin of Kenosha, WI, and Joseph (Sherry) Martin, Sheboygan, WI; and four sisters, Judith Woodall of New York, NY, Joy Kastman of Cornell, WI, Gloria Jean Bacewicz of Kenosha, WI, and Joanne (Bruce) Eriksen of Ogden, UT. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 26th, at the Proko Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. followed by full military honors. Interment will be private.
