Joseph A. Miller, Jr., 80, of Salem, Wisconsin, passed away on September 28, 2013, at Hospice House, Kenosha Wisconsin, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Dorchester, Wisconsin on August 3, 1933, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lucille (Bartnik) Miller. He attended school in Dorchester and then served two years in the U.S. Army from December 8, 1954 to December 7, 1956, stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, then Texas and Louisiana, a heavy equipment operator, followed by six years in the Reserves, and honorably discharged on November 30, 1962. Upon serving his two years in the U.S. Army, he moved to Milwaukee in 1957 where he worked for A.C. Lindley Drywall until moving to Kenosha in 1960 where he started his own business, Joe Miller Drywall Service, which he operated until his retirement. On July 25, 1959, while still in Milwaukee, he married Donalda Rae Korb. They raised their four children in Kenosha. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He is survived by his daughter Yvonne (John) Schmidt of Mesa, Arizona, his three sons Gary (Patty) of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Bruce (Brenda) of Palatine, Illinois, and Mike of Pleasant Prairie. His grandchildren are Eric and Ryan Schmidt; Grace and Delicia Miller; Twins Benjamin and Katherine Miller; and Kaitlyn and Colin Miller. Surviving also are eight siblings; Jean (Duane) Korb of San Diego, Grace Gutenberger of Colby, WI, Dorothy (Edwin) Broeske of Richfield, WI, James (Patricia) of Dorchester, Mary Ann (Larry) Paul of Milwaukee, Elaine (James) Hiebl of Colby, Leonard (Lue), of Dorchester, and Loretta (Jerry) Fialkowski of Neenah. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Louis and his wife Sally, and a brother-in-law James Gutenberger. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 8th, at 12:30 p.m. from the Proko Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
