Susan R. Smith, 64, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, due to complications from pneumonia. Her loving family was with her when she passed peacefully. Born in Kenosha on January 6, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Robert and LaVerne (Kraak) Goodman. She was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and was educated in local schools, graduating from UW-Parkside. On June 20, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Ken Smith, in Kenosha. Sue was employed as a social worker with the Great Lakes Naval Base and then as a secretary for the Mid-Week Bulletin where she also wrote food reviews. Most recently, she was a secretary with the KUSD, retiring from Bradford High School in June of 2009 after 19 years of employment. She enjoyed taking road trips with her husband and family in cars of all makes, models, sizes and years. Sue was very creative and crafty and she was also an avid photographer of flowers and scenery. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed monthly dinners with her fellow school secretaries. Bird watching, a hobby passed through generations, was a fond past time. Her family, grandchildren and family pets always brought a wonderful smile to her face. Sue was a wonderful wife to Ken of Kenosha, a loving mother to Ben (Kristi) Smith of Racine and Katie Smith of Kenosha and was a very proud grandmother to Camryn and Carson Smith. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8th, at the Proko Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mayo Foundation - ARDS Research or Cancer Research Institute, both causes close to the families’ hearts, would be greatly appreciated.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Susan's Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
