John E. Gehring, Sr.

John E. “Jack” Gehring, Sr., 85, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at his residence. Born in Kenosha on October 18, 1927, he was the son of the late John M. and Anna (Azer) Gehring. Jack served his country in the U.S. Marines. On October 7, 1950, he married Domenica “Minnie” Andrea at Our Lady of the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2012. Jack worked for many years at Josephson & Thomey Plumbing and Hardware and retired from Johnson Hardware. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, was past president of the Holy Name Society and was past president of the Uptown Business Association. He is survived by his five sons, John, Joseph, Thomas (Susan), James and David (Michelle) Gehring, all of Kenosha; a daughter, Mary (George) Haberman of St. Francis, WI; a brother, Richard (Diane) Gehring of Zwingle, IA; a sister, Jeanette Bern of Milton, WI; two brothers-in-law, Louis (Rina) Andrea and Carmen (Lori) Andrea; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Andrea and Olivia Andrea; eleven grandchildren, Nicholas, Edward (Lindsey), Natalie, Ian, Jason (Shawn), Caitlin, Mark, Leia, Amanda, Tess and Jenna; and two great-grandchildren, Naomi and Dayton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 7th, at Our Lady of the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St George Cemetery.
