Gordon J. "Gordy" West Sr., 82, of Paddock Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 29, 1930, in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late Clarence and Wilhelmena (Klister) West. He has resided in Paddock Lake for the past 20 years. On July 8, 1950, he married Audrey Schwartz at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Milwaukee. He was past-president of Better Brands of Milwaukee Liquor Distributor and later became the owner/operator of two Marathon self-service gasoline stations. He also served as Kenosha County Board Supervisor for Dist. #23 for 15 years. Other accomplishments included president of Paddock Lake Business Association, Westosha Area Kiwanis Board Director, and Kenosha Symphony Orchestra Board Director. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster. He is survived by his wife, Audrey; his five children, Linda (Reggie) Carlson of Milwaukee, Gordon West, II of So. Milwaukee, Laura (Dr. Kenneth) Wisniewski of Wind Point, Mary Wilhelm of Milwaukee, and Rick (Wendy) of Burlington, MA; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Charlotte (Dan), Phyllis (Phil) and Karen; and brother-in-law, George (Janice) Schwartz of Flowery Branch, GA. He is also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Audrey. Gordon will be fondly remembered for his love of God, wife, family, friends and community. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice Alliance for all of the wonderful care given to Gordy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 26th, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 6301-344th Avenue, New Munster, WI 53152, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
