Catherine J. "Kaye" Marinelli, 97, of Kenosha, passed away with her granddaughters at her side on Monday, December 3, 2012, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. Born in North Chicago, IL, on August 9, 1915, she was the daughter of the late John and Anne (Petlaka) Nedelka. She was educated in North Chicago schools before coming to Kenosha in 1946 to make her home. On May 3, 1941, she married Mario J. Marinelli at Mother of God Catholic Church in North Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death in 1983. For over 30 years she had been employed by American Motors-Chrysler Motors Corp. Retiring in 1982. Kaye was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church since 1945, was very active in church activities, the Holy Rosary Ladies Society, St. Anne’s Society in North Chicago, and UAW Local 72. She enjoyed bowling, gardening and baking and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packer fan. Surviving Catherine are her two granddaughters, Tina (Dan) Hoppenjan and Lisa (Joe) Bleashka, both of Kenosha; a sister, Fran Kappa of Illinois; and three great-grandchildren, Dustin Eschbach, Tanner Eschbach and Gianna Hoppenjan. She was preceded in death by her, husband; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Linda Marinelli; three brothers, Steve, Albert and John Nedelka; and three sisters, Mary, Ann and Elizabeth. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 6th, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. We are saddened by the loss of Aunty Kay. Her energy and zest for life was an inspiration. I remember the last time we saw her and how welcoming she was to us. She will be missed.
