Maggie Rose Proko, 85, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 5, 1927 in Green Bay, WI, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Lucille (Williquette) Ullmer. She graduated from Green Bay West High School. On June 8, 1949, she married John Anthony Proko at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Duck Creek, WI. In 1953 they moved to West Allis and then in 1962 they moved to Kenosha making it their home. Maggie was employed as a telephone operator in Green Bay, WI, and she later volunteered at the old St. Catherine’s Hospital gift shop. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Kenosha Catholic Women’s Club. Maggie was a past member of St. Catherine’s Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary where she served as the director of the gift shop for many years. Maggie enjoyed playing bridge. She had played in many different clubs, the most notable being the St. James Round Robin Bridge Club and “The Condo Bridge Club”. She also enjoyed spending time “up north” at their cottage in Waupaca with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of over 62 years, John of Pleasant Prairie; her six children, Kay (Bill) Dreher of Kenosha, Don (Kelly) Proko of Wheatland, Lynn (Jim) Siering of Wind Lake, Larry (Tammy) Proko of Somers, Carole (Nelson) Thulin of Commerce, MI, and Gail Proko of Kenosha; eleven grandchildren, Michael III, Joel and Cheryl DiCello; Dr. Stephanie (Nick) Momper, Becky Proko and Elizabeth (Kevin) Sand; Leah (Andy) Pitts and Rachael (Dreu) Proko-Viola; and Spencer, Paige and Noah Thulin; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry (Judy) Ullmer of Green Bay. Maggie was preceded in death by her brother, Bob Ullmer. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bandealy and Hospice Alliance for their wonderful care and compassion for Maggie and her family during this difficult time. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 10th, from Proko Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 10th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery. John, On returning home from our trip yesterday, we were very saddened to hear of your lovely wife passing.
