James R. "Buck" Poppe, 67, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born on November 12, 1944, in Ashland, WI, he was the son of the late Arthur and Gertrude (Flesch) Poppe. In 1962 he moved to Kenosha. On August 21, 1965, he married Dorothy Nuutinen in Marengo, WI. They moved to Illinois then came back to Kenosha in 1981 and have resided here since. Buck was employed as an auto technician at a Mercedes Benz car dealership. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Kenosha; his four children, Richard (Michelle) Poppe and Nicole (Scott) Massie, both of Bristol, and Colleen Poppe and Andrew Poppe, both of Kenosha; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and six siblings, Lyle (Ruth) Poppe of Highbridge, WI, Gene Poppe of Ashland, WI, Paula (Randy) Ovaska of Eau Claire, Sherry (Ken) Veno of Ashland, Kristy Cook of Ashland, and Paul (Patricia) Poppe of New Munster, WI. Buck was preceded in death by his sister, Lynnette Hancock. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9th, at Independent Apostolic Church in North York, WI, at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Highbridge, WI.
