Bette Mae Lyons, 86, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Grand Prairie Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Prairie. Born in Kenosha on April 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Martha (Brandt) Tanck. She spent the majority of her life in Kenosha and was educated in local schools. For two years she had lived in Sturtevant at Kilarney Court Independent Living. On May 1, 1943, she married William P. (Bill) Lyons at St. James Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2009. Bette was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Past President of Unit 21, the La Societe de La Femmes Cabane 410 where she was Past Grande Presidente of Wisconsin and Past Nationale Presidente, and also volunteered at Kenosha Hospital for over 10 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their RV to camp and fish with their family. Surviving are her three sons, William P. (Connie) Lyons, Jr. of Racine, David M. (Barbara) Lyons, Sr. of Kenosha, Timothy S. Lyons of Sturtevant; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Barr; and a brother-in-law, Chuck Barr. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Buencamino and his staff and the nurses and staff of both Grande Prairie Nursing Home and Hospice Alliance for all of their kind and compassionate care they gave Bette. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. I am so sorry for your loss. I will miss her greatly. She was such a . blessing to be around. I will miss those bingo days and her sassy red nails on manicure days. She was full of life. It was an honor to know her. She is at peace with her beloved husband now.
