Marlene Elizabeth Mengo

1934 ∼ 2026

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Marlene Mengo who passed away February 20, 2026, at the age of 91.

Marlene Elizabeth Gross was born April 28, 1934. She attended Bradford High School and got her first job as a car hop at the Keno Drive In. She honed her business skills working for the Unemployment Office and at Warwick Company in Waukegan. She married Alfred Mengo Jr. in 1952 and moved on to raise her growing family as well as supporting the family business, Dot-Line Mengo Industries, remaining a lifelong Kenosha resident.

Marlene leaves many to cherish her memory, including four children; Linda (Rick Hughes) Pierce, David (Jill) Mengo, Dale (Robin Hansen) Mengo, and Marla (Keith) Witt; fondly, 10 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Mengo Jr.; parents Carl and Alita Gross; sister Jean Hollister and brother Warren Gross.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Accent Care Hospice, Parkside Manor and Library Terrace for the care Marlene received from each facility, while also making many good friends along the way.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Proko Funeral Home. Final resting place will be at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, 4300 Green Bay Road, Kenosha WI.

Our mom, Betty Gross Waluch Becker, was cousins with Marlene. I remember visiting her with mom when she lived by Tremper and listening to the stories of their past. RIP ❤️ Terry Waluch
