Edward J. Seliga, 66, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie after a courageous battle with MDS and leukemia.
Born on October 30, 1959, in Kenosha; he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Neerhof) Seliga Sr. On October 22, 2005, he married Catherine Rice at Baptist Tabernacle Church in Kenosha.
Ed was educated in Kenosha schools and graduated from Bradford High School with the class of 1977. After high school, he attended classes at UW-Parkside and completed the management training at Kmart Enterprises. He was the manager of the sporting goods and automotive departments at numerous Kmart stores including his first store in Magnolia Arkansas. Ed’s next adventure was working in quality at Abbott Laboratories and at Beltoya’s Pro Shop with his dear friend and mentor Dick Beltoya. For the last 20 years, Ed was the very proud owner and operator of Seliga’s Pro Shop inside GRC (Guttormsen’s Rec Center) in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Ed was passionate about bowling and the bowling community. He was an avid bowler in many leagues and tournaments with over 20 perfect 300 games, numerous 299 games and 800+ series. His accomplishments include being inducted in the Kenosha Bowling Hall of Fame for superior performance in 2007, 2 championships in the Chicagoland North division of the Amateur Bowler’s tour, fifth place finish in “All Events” in the 2003 USBC Nationals and a four time Kenosha News Match Game Champion. Ed is the only bowler to win two divisions in the same year by winning both the Men’s and Senior Men’s Titles in 2011. The bowling industry also recognized Ed and his shop with Pro Shop of the year and many other awards.
Ed loved supporting bowlers and helping the bowling community to grow and improve their games. From supporting youth programs, adult teams, donating and providing balls and equipment for outreach events, to helping hundreds of bowlers to find the right fit and equipment. His measuring and drilling skills were an artform developed by years of knowledge, experience and research. Many bowlers have said Ed cared about them as a person and not just a customer. We want to thank the bowling community for their friendships, support and loyalty.
In addition to bowling, Ed loved playing baseball, softball, cheering on the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers, camping and spending time with his family, church family, bowling family, Westplate family and friends. Ed always loved playing and spending time with babies, kids and dogs especially Sunny and Coral. He loved being known as Uncle to his nieces and many other children including his special buddy Mitchell Johnson as well as Daddy to his own children Michael and Julia. Ed had a huge heart for everyone!
Ed was a lifelong member of the (Baptist) Tabernacle Church. He loved his Savior Jesus and being part of the church youth group, church musicals, driving the Awana bus, and singing. Ed loved listening to and singing the Gaither Vocal Band songs and southern gospel music. He especially loved singing in the 4given quartet with his brother Joe and friends Jim Whitmire and Larry Huissen. Ed shared his faith and lived his life as a strong Christian everyday through the way he carried himself, the choices he made, gently sharing the Gospel, and the love he gave to everyone.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Catherine; children, Michael and Julia; brother, Joseph (Renee) Jr.; nieces, Crystal (Thom) & boys, and Stephanie; many cousins, especially Vince and Sharon (Paul); mother-in-law, Joan Rice; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Mike).
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by father-in-law, Charles Rice.
A visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. An additional visitation will be held the next day, Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at The Tabernacle 7951 36th Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset Ridge Cemetery.

News of Ed's passing is so disappointing. Although he had shared his ongoing health battles this ending comes as a terrible shock.I have known Ed, Catherine, Michael, and Julia for many years. They were always regulars at our tradeshows and would spend a lot of time in our Bowl Expo booth. It was always a highlight.Ed was as honest, considerate, and effective as any customer I have had the pleasure to work with - and I have known thousands. Ed was a great contributor to the overall well-being of bowling, and he will be greatly missed.A week later I am still struggling with the thought my good friend and associate is gone. If everyone was as kind, giving, hardworking, and loving as Ed so many of the world's problems would simply not exist. I am so grateful for the friendship we shared, but so sad for all of us, especially his family, who enjoyed his spirit and compassion every day.

Ed and Catherine came into our lives when we moved to the area with the Coast Guard. We were young and had no family or friends near by. They kindly took us under their wing and showed us generosity that felt like Jesus. Catherine I am devastated and deeply sorry for your loss. Sending you and your beautiful children all my love and prayers. Ed was one of the kindest souls I have ever come in contact with and our lives are better for it. We knew him for just a brief time but his impact was great. I know the peace and joy he is experiencing now is beyond our wildest imagination. Love you all.

Catherine, Im so sorry to hear of Ed's death. I didnt know him well, but he was a kind and gentle man. I remember your beautiful wedding. May the love you shared and all your memories comfort you like a favorite quilt. Hold the memories close. They will seem sad and make you cry for a while but over time those same memories will make you smile. I speak from experience. Losing Kevin in November was extreamly hard. Ive been blessed to have him with me so long. We met at age 13. He is with me in spirit and yes now months later, his pictures make me smile remembering the love we had. Sending you love and prayers.
