Diane J. Heins, 87, of Mundelein, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Diane will be remembered for her loving, compassionate, and caring spirit that touched the lives of everyone around her. Born on February 2, 1938, Diane was the daughter of Mary and Axel Hallgren and grew up in a family that valued kindness and deep family connections. These values became the foundation of the warm, nurturing home she later created for her own family. For over 50 years, she and her husband, Raymond, made Mundelein their home and were very active in the community, building lasting friendships. Summers at the lake house in Wisconsin were a highlight, filled with family fun and enjoyment. In her free time, she was passionate about crafting and sewing, creating treasures that continue to be cherished by her family. Diane is survived by her children, Thomas Heins, Margaret (Tony) Schwartz, and Michael (Jennifer) Heins; grandchildren, Leo Heins, Michael Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Ashley Heins, Ouroboros Heins and Zach (Amanda) Schwartz; great-grandchildren, Percival Heins, Savanah Schwartz, Lizzie Schwartz, and Wyatt Schwartz; and sisters, Laurie Wachowiak and Adele Cade. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Heins, and parents, Axel and Mary Hallgren. A Mass will be held at Santa Maria Del Popolo Chapel, located at 116 N. Aunt Diane you will be and are missed. I remember how our moms would make our clothes for Christmas, one year we all got overalls and the PJ bags, the red Christmas bas with our names on them, the family get togethers at the Holidays.
