Rev. Daniel J. Brown, 65 years old of Winthrop Harbor, IL passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025. He was born August 30, 1960, in Michigan, the son of Gary and Mary Brown. Dan and Cathy initiated the Lighthouse Community Church, Winthrop Harbor, IL, where he served as Pastor for many years. He was an impactful Pastor and will be remembered for his devotion and service to his congregation. Dan was a wonderful husband and father, and adored his pups, Annie and Charlie. He was also interested in flying; and currently in the process of building an aircraft. Survivors include his loving partner, Cathy; his mother, Mary Brown; four children, Leah Drake, Paul (Megan) Brown, Eric (Andrea) Brown, and Dan (Lisle) Brown; a brother, Scott (Beverly) Brown; sister-in-law, Sherry Brown; and grandchildren, Baron, Pierce, Paul, and Grace. Dan was preceded in death by his father Gary, and a brother Steve.Memorial visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Lighthouse Community Church, 600 College Avenue, Winthrop Harbor, IL with services to commence at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private in Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Lighthouse Community Church, in his memory.

I didn’t know Dan but Cathy is my stepsister. We haven’t been in touch for quite sometime but am sending my heartfelt condolences. So sorry for his passing!

42 years of friendship through the good and the bad and when we bad we were bad LOL that was our younger years I'm so happy .. to have watched him walk to the doors at our church thanksCathy.. I hadn't seen him in a while but I was even more happy to watch and witness and he gave his life over to the Lord.. and continue to grow and hurt his calling pastor Dan I'm thankful that I got to witnesses marriage and celebrate afterwards and all the blessings that came his way from that point in time love you cathy you're in my heart.. and as soon as I can find the picture of Karen and Ronnie and Steve me at your wedding I'm going to post it Dan was a good man a wonderful friend

I still remember living next door to Danny at Brookhaven Apartments, We used to play Monopoly while watching 👀 the kids, I haven't seen him in a while but I'm still going to miss my great friend... Ronnie and Gail Ciolek and family.
