Charles Victor Ryckaert

Charles “Bud” Ryckaert, 96 years old, formerly of Stone Lake, WI passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, at Kenosha Place, WI. Bud was born on September 12, 1929, in Chicago, IL. He was the son of the late Charles and Germaine (Landuyt) Ryckaert. He attended local schools and graduated from Carl Schurz High School and afterwards started his lifelong career for Illinois Bell where he met his futurewife, Phyllis “Phyl” Krueger. They were married on October 7, 1951. Bud served in the Korean War for the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. Soon after, they moved to Arlington Heights, IL, where they raised their family, then retired to Stone Lake, WI onWhitefish Lake and made their home there for 30 years. Phyl preceded him in death on September 5, 2020.Bud’s hobbies included tennis, fishing, golfing, sailing, water skiing and biking, plus he was an avid snow skier. He also enjoyed working outdoors around the yard and often had a project to work on around their home; plus he and Phyl loved to listen to music and boogie on the dance floor. Survivors include his two loving daughters, Sheri (the late Rick) Clubb of Aurora, IL and Vicki (Michael) Heisler of Lakeville, MN; three grandchildren, Eileen (Chris) Gertmann, Eric (Cathy) Clubb, and Lauren (Cam Bartkey) Bailey; and four great-grandchildren, Daphne and Ryan Gertmann, and Andrew and Emmalyn Clubb. He was also preceded in death by his three siblings, Victor Ryckaert, Geri Goad, and Lynn Ryckaert.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Proko Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. with memorial services commencing at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring, may make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or other charitable organizations in his memory.
