Mary (Metallo) Stellato, 94, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Kenosha Senior Living.Born on March 6, 1931, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Rose (Vena) Metallo. On April 28, 1951, she married Rosario “Russell” Stellato and they were married for a wonderful 66 years until he preceded her in death on January 22, 2018.Mary graduated from Mary Bradford High School, in Kenosha, WI, in 1949. Her favorite job was working in the women’s section and at the candy counter at the downtown Kenosha JCPenney’s and she was sorry to see it close in the 1980s. She continued in various retail roles working part-time until she was 80! Her other important job was acting as the informal, but infamous, family historian. She was a life-long member of Mt. Carmel and was involved in their Ladies Society. She was also a long-time member of the Sons of Italy group in Illinois and the Italian American supporting the Ladies Auxiliary. Mary also enjoyed traveling by motorhome with her husband to Florida, Arizona and Mexico after retirement. Mary is survived by her siblings Marlene (Lyle) Hasenberg and James Metallo; three children, Janet Pynaker, Vickie Stellato, and Cindy Bree; three grandchildren, Andrea (Anthony) Cervini, Rachel (Thomas Andersen Jr.) Pynaker and Justin Gohlke; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Aria Cervini.Along with her husband, and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother John Metallo, sister-in-law Georgeann Metallo, brother-in-law Lyle Hasenberg and niece Tina (Metallo) Gjerdset.In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Our Lady of Mt.Carmel Church, 1919 54th St, Kenosha, WI 53140, or Legacy Hospice, 850 Elm Grove Rd, Elm Grove, WI 53122. Visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Monday, September 29, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of prayers at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be held at All Saints Mausoleum.
