Michael Thomas “Mike” Ashmus, 51, of Pleasant Prairie, WI, passed away at his home on Monday, September 22, 2025.Born on July 2, 1974, in Kenosha, WI, he was the son of Robert Ashmus and Patricia Iverson (Rock). He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and lived a life full of love, family and friends.He met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Janis, and the two shared 34 years of life built on love, laughter, and family. Together they raised two amazing sons, Jacob and Matthew, who were his greatest pride and joy. Family meant everything to him, from playing sheepshead, boating, fishing and skiing, to the joy of coaching his boys and cheering them on in whatever they did. No matter what his boys were doing, he was their biggest fan and supporter. He was so very proud of them, and they will always be the heart of his legacy.Mike will be remembered as thoughtful, kind and loving, the kind of person who was everyone’s friend. His smile could light up a room, and his infectious personality was comforting to all. Caring, kind-hearted, patient, outgoing, and fun, he was always the life of the party and one of the best conversationalists you could ever meet. He filled every space with joy, warmth and love. His presence made life better and brighter for all who knew him and his spirit will continue to shine in the lives he touched.He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing but it was with his lab Leo that he found the greatest companionship. From daily dog park visits to road trips and endless dog treats, they were a true pair. Leo wasn’t just his dog but his constant companion and faithful friend. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Janis Ashmus of Pleasant Prairie, WI; his sons, Jacob and Matthew Ashmus; his mother, Patricia Iverson; five brothers, Bill (Kim) Ashmus ,Rick (Cindy) Ashmus, Jim (Beth) Ashmus, Rob (Ann) Ashmus, and Jeff (Janet) Ashmus; his parents-in-law, Bill and Judy Royce; his brother-in-law, Bryan (Betsy) Royce; his beloved Lab, Leo; and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends he called family.Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert Ashmus, and stepfather, Dan Iverson.A visitation will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Kenosha at 9:30 a.m. Mike was a devoted father, and his greatest joy was his children.
