Judith Lenore “Judie” Metallo, 83, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 11, 1942, in Kenosha, WI; she was the daughter of the late Leo and Florence (Miller) Marion. She attended St. Mark’s and Lincoln Elementary Schools until her family relocated to Indiana while her father helped build the Chicago Bridge. She returned to Kenosha with her parents in 1948. She then attended Frank Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School, and Bradford High School. She graduated from Bradford High School in 1961. Judie attended Kenosha Vocational School of Nursing graduating in 1962. On July 27, 1962, she married her handsome husband, William “Bill” Metallo in Roswell, NM. They had met on a blind date at Wilmot Raceway, a place where they would continue to make wonderful family memories over the years. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2023. Judie worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at a local hospital in Rosewell, NM while her husband was stationed there, until he was medically discharged from the United States Airforce in 1963. They then returned to Kenosha, where Judie worked at St. Catherine’s Hospital for 35 years and Aurora Hospital for 5 years until her retirement in 2005. Judie enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the world, especially to Hawaii. She was an avid rummage-saler, as well as thrifter. She just loved finding a good deal. Judie and Bill played cards with the same group of couples for more than 30 years. They also visited the same breakfast restaurants for more than 40 years. The staff at these restaurants were more than workers, they were truly members of their family. Above all else, Judie loved spending time with her family, especially game nights. She is survived by her three sons, Robert (Laura) Metallo, Timothy Metallo and Kevin (Jackie) Metallo all of Kenosha, WI; 12 grandchildren, Matt, Zach, Megan, Katy, Samantha, Sydney, Madelyn (Cory), Lucas, Kelsey (Zach), Brooke, Bella, and Jack; one great granddaughter, Selah. Judie was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald (Pat) Marion; and two sisters, Barbara (George) Tennessen, and Linda (Howard) Lakvold. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aurora Hospice at Home, and Dr. Rocco for their kind and compassionate care. A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. Interment in St. George Cemetery will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated by the family. I have been blessed to have Judie as a neighbor for many years. My dog Roxie used to love to jump on Judie's lap. Now when we pass the house, Roxie pauses to look for Judie. I think she understands when I tell her that Judie is with Bill in heaven now.
