John Thomas Wesnick

John Thomas Wesnick, 97 years old, of Kenosha, WI passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at Brookside Care Center, Kenosha, WI.He was born May 5, 1927, in Milwaukee, WI the son of the late John and Julia (Kassa) Misnic. He attended Racine schools and then proudly served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII; he later served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. On February 19, 1949, he married Sophie Kaprelian and she preceded him in death in 2010. In his younger years, John fondly recalled swimming in the quarry in Racine, WI. John worked as a bookbinder for Western Publishing, Racine, WI and after retirement, he kept busy with part-time jobs. He cherished spending time with his family, and he loved traveling to Lac du Flambeau, WI with his father and two brothers; John kept the tradition going by bringing his children and grandchildren up north in later years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors; many memories were made during family fishing trips. Survivors include his children, Debra (Lucien) Boyadjian of Orland Park, IL and Linda (John) Antaramian of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, John (Kyle), Jeffery (Ashley), Michael (Courtney), Melinda, and Martin; great-grandchildren, Sona Rose and Jack Nolan; a brother, Richard (Elaine) Wesnick of Montana; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffery Wesnick; and siblings, Hazel (Edward) Korec, Joseph West, Mary Jean (Steven) Smolka, and Margaret (Robert) Oachs.Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Proko Funeral Home. Funeral services with military honors will commence at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Interment will be private in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI.
