Leonard Dominick Rizzo

Leonard “Len” D. Rizzo, 90, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 6, 2024.He was born May 11, 1934, in Kenosha, WI, to the late Dominick and Elizabeth (Montemurro) Rizzo.Len attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. He attended college in Lacrosse, WI, before proudly serving in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged and returned home to marry the love of his life, Jean Hansen, on November 10, 1956.Len opened his own barber shop, Lenny’s, which he operated for 16 years. He was also employed as a custodian at Durkee school before retiring at 65.Len excelled in sports in high school and college and was inducted into the Kenosha Sports Hall of Fame in 1993. He loved to play tennis and handball, also horseshoes and cards with his friends. He went to the KYF five days a week and volunteered there for special events. He also enjoyed working at the Mt. Carmel and Holy Rosary festivals. Len was a member of the Italian American Club, Holy Name Society and Holy Rosary 1st Friday Club.Len loved vacationing with family and friends, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.Len is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jean; children, Lenny (Shelley), Karen, Diane, Sandra and Joanne; eight grandchildren, Zach, Kendell (Lucas) Regas, Nick, Lauren (Mark) Valdez, Andrea, John, Paul and Anthony; seven great-grandchildren, Isabella, Ace, Gisele, Max, Elsa, Aidan and Avery; sister-in-law, Gloria Hansen; and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death his brother, Joseph; sisters and brothers in law, Mabel (Jim) Dyer, Shirley (Richard) Mammoser, Bob (Marianne) Hansen, Don Hansen, and Carl (Nancy) Marks.The family will miss his big smile and great sense of humor. Memorial visitation for Len will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Prayers will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Parish, 2224 45th St, Kenosha, WI at 10:00am.
