Hattie Frese, of Kenosha, WI passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Primrose Retirement Community in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Born on February 9, 1930, in Kenosha, WI, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Bertha (Weidner) Schefky. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Walter, her husband Herbert Frese, and several cousins. Hattie is survived by daughter Julie Frese (Jim), son John Frese (Cindy), daughter Janet Frese, granddaughter Katy Frese, grandson John Frese (Reiko), great-granddaughter Scout, and several cousins. Hattie worked alongside her husband at their grocery store for many years. While raising her children, she continued her love of interacting with people while working in grocery and retail stores. Hattie was the essence of what it means to be kind, gracious, and understanding of others. It was also evident she had a keen sense of style and was excited to share this with others. Hattie was also a long-term member of St Luke’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha and is now affiliated with St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. A private service was held at Proko Funeral Home, and she was laid to rest at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park, Somers, WI."A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies.
