Claudia “Dinette” Giannakopoulos, 63, of Kenosha, WI, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Harvest Home Assisted Living in Mount Pleasant, WI. Born on September 5, 1960, in Chicago, IL; she was the daughter of Vasily and Nadine (Kolarovitch) Kalikin. She attended local schools and graduated from Loyola University with her bachelor’s in computer science and a minor in mathematics. On July 12, 1980, she married Konstantinos Giannakopoulos in Chicago, IL. Dinette was a computer programmer and software developer. She was employed by The Joint Commission, Pivotal Health Solutions, and Hyatt until her retirement. Dinette had an uncanny ability to learn other languages very easily, she spoke French, Russian, Spanish, Greek and English, which helped her forge beautiful friendships with people of many cultures. Also, she was a very giving person, always helping people, opening her home, especially around the holidays if someone didn't have anywhere else to go. Dinette was a lover of nature and travel, enchanted by new forests to explore and beautiful scenery. She loved trees and flowers and took great care of her gardens and landscape. Dinette loved photography and art and was a beautiful painter. Dinette’s family was the core of her heart. She loved her husband and children deeply, investing in their lives completely. She was at every soccer game and any other extracurricular activity her family participated in. Dinette loved with all her soul and was devoted to those she cared about in her life. She is survived by her mother Nadine Kalikin; four children, Dimitri Giannakopoulos, Tatiana (Michael) Simi, Vasily (Lauren) Giannakopoulos, and Petro Giannakopoulos; four grandchildren, Dino Giannakopoulos, Maks Giannakopoulos, Colette Simi, and Aria Simi; siblings, Eugene (Celia) Kalikin, Tania (George) Carlozzi, Maria (Tony) Giannakopoulos, and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dinette was preceded in death by her father Vasily, husband, Konstantinos, sister-in-law, Eleni Giannakopoulos, father-in-law, Dimitri Giannakopoulos, and mother-in-law, Caliroy Giannakopoulos. A visitation for Dinette will be held at Westosha Lakes Church, 24823 74th St, Salem, WI 53168, on Monday, September 16, 2024, from 9:30 am until the 12:00 pm service.
