Kathleen Marie Payne, 67 of Pleasant Prairie, WI passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital, West Allis, WI. She was born June 2, 1957, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Vernon and Phyllis (Doyle) Wardean. On October 27, 1979, Kathy married Michael Payne in Chicago, IL and they settled in Pleasant Prairie ten years ago. Kathy was an avid reader and a talented seamstress; her family was most important to her. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Mike; four children, James (Maddie) Payne of Mt. Pleasant, WI, Kara (Ronan Guillery) Payne of Berlin, Germany, Brian Payne of Madison, WI and Joseph Payne of Greenfield, WI; brothers, Michael and Martin Wardean, both of Tinley Park, IL, and Mark Wardean of Bridgeview, IL; a sister-in-law, Lori Wardean of Chicago; grandchildren, Gatlin and Huck; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by a brother, David Wardean. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Proko Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the funeral home, to St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, for Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Committal services will follow in All Saints Cemetery & Mausoleum, Pleasant Prairie, WI. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Diabetes Association, in her memory.
