William “Bill” Metallo, 82, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital. Born on December 3, 1940, in Kenosha, WI; he was the son of the late Ralph and Angeline (Perri) Metallo. Bill served in the United States Air Force from 1960, until he was honorably discharged in 1964. On July 27, 1962, he married his beautiful bride, Judith “Judie” Marion in Roswell, NM. They had met on a blind date at Wilmot Raceway, a place where they would continue to make wonderful family memories over the years. He worked for the United States Post Office from 1966 until 1971. He was employed by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He was honored to be the first Deputy Friendly for seven years. He truly enjoyed the community outreach, leading the Neighborhood Watch, Stranger Danger, Bike Rodeos, chaperoning Safety Patrol trips to Washington DC, Madison, and Wisconsin Dells. During his last trip to Washington DC, he had the honor of laying the wreath at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Bill was a member of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association. He enjoyed hobbies with his family, dirt track and stock car racing, NASCAR, working on model airplanes and cars, and watching the Packers. He and Judie loved going out to breakfast each morning, spending time with their breakfast community. Frequenting rummage sales, they were affectionately known as the King and Queen of rummage sales. Bill didn’t believe in paying to fix anything, but instead would fix it himself. He is survived by his loving wife, Judie Metallo of Kenosha, WI; three sons, Robert (Laura) Metallo, Timothy (Michelle) Metallo, and Kevin (Jackie) Metallo all of Kenosha, WI; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his sister, Rose (Greg) Daniel. Bill and I first met when we were 5 years old. We would show each other our new Christmas toys and sometimes go to trade them. Many fond memories living in the neighborhood. We will meet again.Bill schaeferRet Racine Police

To Judie and the entire Metallo Family, you have our most sincere sympathy in Bill's passing. We were good friends at St. Joes High School. Both Bill and I are "car guys", and I remember that he had several cars when we were Seniors at St. Joe's. We car guys had a sort of car show many days when we would park our cars in a line along the south drive way at St. Joe's where they could easily be seen from all the hallways. Great fun and great memories. He will be missed. RIP Bill!Keith and Carol Gumbinger

Bill was my best partner on 3rd shift and he taught me how to be a good deputy. We got into our share of scrapes and always managed to come out on top. He was a great friend and he will be missed. Love you Bill. Ret KSD 088, Flo Schipper.

My dad was one of those larger than life people that you spend your life admiring and trying to be like. There is no better role model, or example of being a true and genuine person than my dad. You are in God's hands now and I look forward to the day that we meet again. Love you so much Dad. Thank you for all of your wisdom.

My Uncle Bill was always a strong role model for me growing up. I appreciated him taking charge and showing me how to do the typical “ dad things” when mine was absent. Things like; riding a bike, flying a rocket, racing a remote car … and of course educating me on countless safety tips. Most of all Uncle Bill and my beautiful Aunt Judie, and their sons (my older cooler cousins) always showed me kindness and compassion by example. From picnics, pool parties and summer vacations up north to holiday traditions, my Uncle Bill was a master at creating memorable experiences for us all. I will cherish those times in my heart and mind always. Sending comfort and prayers of strength out to the family and to everyone he loved so much, that equally respected and loved him back.
