Yuko “Candy” Kersting, 91 years old of Kenosha, WI passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha, WI.She was born in Tokyo, Japan on October 17, 1932, the daughter of the late Jutaro and Mutsu (Kobayashi) Imaizumi. On March 27, 1953, she married the late LaVerne “Vern” E. Kersting in Yokohama, Japan. She was employed at Vista International Packaging LLC for 15 years prior to her retirement. Yuko was an avid seamstress and enjoyed quilting, needle point and cross stitching. She took enormous pride in her garden. She liked bird watching with her husband and enjoyed listening to 40’s and 50’s Japanese pop music or watching a classic Hollywood movie. She also enjoyed spending time with her family while going out to eat. Yuko was also very proud of her Japanese heritage and loved every aspect of the culture and customs that came with it, especially the artwork and music. Survivors include her two children, Betty Kersting and Jim Kersting; granddaughter, Laura Kersting; Sister Masako Masayoshi; Sister-in-law Karen Falkenstern; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband of 69 years and her parents, Yuko was preceded in death by her siblings Shigeo Imaizumi, Mitsuo Imaizumi, Toyoko Hilgendorf, Motoji Imaizumi, and Kazuo Imaizumi.Memorial visitation for Yuko will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Proko Funeral Home.
