Kathryn “Kathy” Louise Liebe, age 79 years old of Pleasant Prairie, WI went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Azura Assisted Living in Fox Point, WI. Kathy was born on June 7, 1944, in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of the late Frederick and Florence (Wenzel) Koch. On March 21, 1961, she married the love of her life, Donald Charles Liebe at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, OH. They were married for 41 years until he passed away on April 27, 2002. Kathy devoted her life to church ministry, serving in multiple capacities including as the church bookstore manager, providing meals to the elderly, volunteering in the church nursery and children’s Sunday school. She began attending Bible Study Fellowship in the 1980s and became so thoroughly fascinated with studying the Bible that she progressed to teaching women’s Bible studies in both Bible Study Fellowship and church, serving in this capacity for well over 40 years. Additionally, she loved serving in leadership of Women’s Ministries for First Assembly of God Church (now Journey Church) for well over 30 years. She also joined Donald in various church choirs, and team-teaching care groups. After becoming a young widow at age 56, she became a member and leader of the Red Hat Ladies society for over 20 years, which provided the opportunity for travel and socialization. Her heart and arms were always open to other widows, the needy, the elderly, the broken-hearted, or anyone else that needed a sympathetic ear. If Kathy was not at the church, she was working in her home garden tending to her vegetables and flowers. She loved to use those veggies to whip up some awesome meals for her family. She was known for her beautiful hostess style, bringing people together to enjoy love and laughter. Most of all, she delighted in the unique blessings of motherhood and grandmotherhood, leaving a strong legacy of faith and love to her family. Kathy is survived by her children, Kirsten (Lee) Hildebrand of Mequon, Karl (Magdelena) Liebe of Gibsonia, PA, and Kathryn (Phillip) Antin of Fayetteville, AK; grandchildren, Kristopher, Gabrielle and Kevin Hildebrand, Julia (Jacob) McGuire, Matthew, Jonathan, and Kristina Yonke, Elizabeth and Christian Liebe, Samuel and Caleb Antin; great-grandchild George McGuire; sister-in-law Michon “Missy” Koch and Marilyn (Don) Styblo; and son-in-law David Yonke; nieces Laura (Michael) LaFont and Brenda (James) Robbins; and nephews, Christopher (Lucy) Koch and Paul (Suzanna) Koch. Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter Karen Yonke, and brother Frederick Koch. Visitation will be held at Journey Church, 10700 75 Street, Kenosha from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2023. Kathy was my best friend at Brooklyn High School. When I didn’t get a Christmas card from her this year I knew something was wrong. My name was Marian Sirotak back then. I lived down the hill of Roadown on Orchard Ave. Kathy and I spent many a night overnight sharing dreams and making plans for the future. I loved her parents and couldn’t get enough of that honey ice cream. Her mother was the one who told me about “the facts of life and love”! Kathy was a caring person all her life and I feel blessed that she was a part of mine. I’ll tell one story to show how crazy we were. She came to pick me up to go to school but the car would only go in reverse so we drove backwards all the way so we wouldn’t be late!
