Maria Miller, 60, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, previously of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Taranto, Italy, on March 8, 1962, she was the daughter of Gabriel and Julia (Greco) Conforti. On October 22, 1988, she married Mark Miller at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Maria was a cosmetologist for 40 years and worked at Annie’s Hair Design in Waukegan. She really loved her work and the conversations she had with people. At her workstation read a sign saying, “I’m not a magician, I’m a beautician”, and she was just that. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, gambling, jewelry, and spending time with her family – including her dogs, Bella and Zucchero. Her children and granddaughter were the light of her life. Her outgoing personality, humor, hospitality, and selfless nature will be greatly missed. Despite the hardships she faced in life, she always remained optimistic. Survivors include her husband, Mark Miller; her three children, Alexis (Hector) Emanuelli, Mark Miller III, and Brooke Miller; a granddaughter, Gianna; her mother, Julia Conforti; and a sister, Julie Conforti. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gabriel Conforti; and her mother-in-law, Ruth Miller. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Proko Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 1919 54th Street, at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Maria requested no one wear black to her funeral.
