I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of Faye. We grew up together as kids. I remember her at The Portables before Curtis Strange was built and also went to McKinley Jr High. I remember her kindness, always laughing and as I remember, a childhood crush as well. It's sad that our lives drift apart and wish we could've kept in touch. I have very fond memories of Faye and will be missed by all. My deepest condolences to Fay's Family during this trying time. God is very fortunate to have you in Heaven Faye.

Faye Marie Schutz saw great value in education. To me, she was self-disciplined and self-reliant and seemed to always be in school, taking another class and learning something new. She was successful in learning. Faye was also an educator. I’m certain many if not most people know this about her, as it was one of her defining characteristics. She enjoyed teaching. She was always encouraging me to apply myself, especially in school, and inspiring me to find things out.Faye was my aunt, and “Auntie Faye” loved games. She loved playing them, watching them, and of course teaching them. I understand she had a good golf game. She took my brother and me to our first Dungeons and Dragons convention at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside. She taught me how to play Solitaire, Uno, and Backgammon. Faye didn’t just teach the rules of the games, but how to enjoy play within the rules. This was evident when we played together. Auntie Faye would frequently warn me and remind me, “Now don’t do anything stupid.” or “We don’t want to do anything stupid.” She was a careful person. I like that sometimes she said “we”. Even though she was 12 years older than me, and really the boss of me, it made me feel like she knew that she was not infallible. Faye would also occasionally remind me, “We are only human.” or “I’m only human.”My aunt liked facts, was well organized, realistic, and hopeful. As a Special Education Teacher, I saw her apply herself with these assets, her desire to help others, to lay out the facts and rules of life, so that a student fighting the odds might succeed. She recognized potential in people, not just students, and worked to bring it out. I once caught Faye crying and asked what was wrong. She said a student had made a series of bad decisions against her advice, and had serious and bad consequences. Faye cared about her students’ wellbeing.I admire the courage and determination my Autie Faye had refusing to give in to lupus (SLE), multiple sclerosis, and cancer. She spent many years fighting these diseases and trying to cope with them. I know it was a struggle for her. It is always difficult when people we love are no longer in our lives. It is especially hard when the way it happens doesn’t seem fair. I’m thankful for the happy and formative times I had with Faye. I am lucky and grateful that she has been a part of my life. I hope to always remember her at her best. I will miss her.

I am so sorry for your loss. My best memory of Faye is vacationing in Three Lakes at the cabin where we would water ski and fish. Faye was so bubbly all the time. Another memory was having peanut butter on a whole grain bread as a snack. Such good memories. She will be missed.Rose Sander Kloet
